Round 1 Chemo - KO

Round 1 of Chemo is complete. I know, I know, it really isn't complete until I start Round 2 and there is still a lot of unknowns about the next few days, but the chemo is in my system and doing it's job. I feel great! I am a woman that does not even take a daily vitamin and they sent me to WalMart for 3 prescriptions and 3 over-the-counter meds. Whatever it takes! I am In It to Win It!

I am on the ACT plan. I will receive the A & C once every 2 weeks for 4 treatments. I will get a Neulasta shot the day after each of the 4 treatments to boost my white cells. Then I will receive the T once a week for 12 treatments. Amidst all this, I get more anti-nausea meds than I ever knew existed. I already looked at the calendar and if all goes well, I will be more excited than ever for Christmas this year. Looks like the last treatment will be the Monday before or after Christmas. We will have a lot to be Merry about this year!

A = Adriamycin
C = Cytoxan
T = Taxol

Thank You for Supporting My Fight Against Breast Cancer!

  5. Mary, when I read your comment about the song you heard at Mass that really ministered to you, I shed a tear or two -- a few years ago, shortly after my husband's successful open-heart surgery, as I was driving home to pick up a few things, I stuck a tape in the player and a song came on called "God Gave me back my Tomorrows". God really does speak to us and minister to us in various ways -- believe that He was speaking to you through the song! Your tomorrows are in His hands and He will see you through! Thank you for the pictures of your delightful family, and keep fighting and praying!!! Love, Joyce Lee (Stacy's mom)

    Looks like the "match" is on now that chemo has started.

    With your positive attitude, amazing support system, and the millions of prayers being sent your direction, I don't see how cancer stands a chance!!

  8. Lots of love, hugs, kisses, and tears here in Carolina for you!!! We are just so proud of you and praying every day. Don't you know that all the Henry's are making an impact on the heavenly system! Your dad and Karen must be bragging on the shear numbers in your corner and begging God to get you through this round without any knock downs. I agree with Deanne that you must use that ole' Henry fight. God knows, we are the most stubborn people in the world!! (Just ask any of our spouses or kids) Can't is not in our dictionary!! We love you and will be ringside all the way through. Aunt jo

  11. Hope you are able to breeze through those treatments!! I know some people don't like the optional meds, but don't be afraid to take those and let yourself feel as good as possible. Trust me there are even more anti-nausea meds than the ones they gave you... I promise. And hopefully you'll never get to see those :)

    So glad you got started. Keep on fighting!
    Love you lots
