The Port Is In
The port is in. I am not sure how my follower Sue was able to go shopping because all I want to do is sleep. I am getting plenty of rest today (maybe catching up a little from the last couple weeks). On my way to the hospital I received a couple text messages and a phone call from special people in my life and Dan asked what they wanted. I simply said they were checking in before the port procedure even though they were sending birthday wishes as well. Dr. Faris came by first thing and said, "Happy Birthday!" Dan said, "Well, #@%!" The nurses loved it...Dr. Faris remembered my birthday and Dan forgot! The surgical crew sang Happy Birthday to me, brought me a piece of cake, and gave me a pink, glass rose. Dan has a little extra on his mind these days. He started football practice yesterday in the midst of all this chaos. He is confident in the group of young men he has this year. Thanks to his coaching staff for their flexibility and willingness to help him (us) out! I am looking for some WINS in the ring and Dan is expecting them on the gridiron. I will continue to be the #1 Stanberry Bulldog Football Fan! Go Bulldogs!

You deserve some rest! Your post made me smile because I could just picture Dan's reaction. Glad you got your piece of cake. Enjoy some sleep.
ReplyDeleteSending extra birthday wishes.
Love, Doc
Glad you are getting some rest. Take advantage of it whenever you can. I'm sure Dan had some choice words but can understand why your birthday may have slipped his mind. Enjoy the rest of the day. Sending special birthday love. Auntie Liz
ReplyDeleteHI Mary,
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking of you often, so checked your blog again. Get rested up as some of the meds can make you tired and you probably need a good rest. My kids are alot older than yours(20's) so more self sufficient, but I cannot believe I forgot to tell you that I had my port put in on my BD too! That is why I went shopping as it was right after Christmas and I hated to miss those sales!! Since I am a nurse, I asked my Dr's not to put me under too much cuz I wanted to shop and they obliged! Amazing what they will do to accommodate us! HA! Sounds like you got some special treatment too and I am glad as you deserve it. Please get rested up for the next step in your fight. You are a winner, I know.
Happy Birthday Mar! I'm sure it wasn't exactly how you thought you would be spending it but I am glad your doctors and nurses made it special for you.
ReplyDeleteI can already hear you on the sidelines cheering on the Bulldogs. No matter who is there, you always seem to be the loudest and biggest fan for those boys!
Saw Renae's AWESOME pink braclet today. Only you could make that woman wear something pink! She is suppose to be getting me some so I just like everyone else is in your corner fighting this "beast". Hang in there girl, we are all behind you! Lots of love,

Go gettem girl!!!! I think all the prayers being sent up for you must seem like a sideline crew screaming. You have to know you have a great pep squad! Keep fighting and keep the faith.

Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteSo glad your port was put in so quickly. It really does make it so much better when taking chemo. I had one chemo session before my port was put in. Very uncomfortable. The port just made the sessions so much easier, especially when needing to go to the bathroom! My prayers are with you as you go through chemo.
God Bless,
Jane W
