Who Needs Hair, Anyway?!?

I decided Dan has been able to pull this off for 10+ years, so I should be able to do so for a few months! It's Gone! We had our own, little "Shave Mary's Hair Off" party last night...just Dan and Me. Dan finished with the razor and shaving cream at 2 AM. Not only is the man a perfectionist at his woodworking projects, he is a perfectionist at shaving.

At one point last night, I could not take it any longer! I could feel the hair falling on my shoulders and neck and it was driving me insane. When we were finally settling down for the night, I told Dan it was the first thing on the agenda for today, but he could not wait that long. It actually made my night, because now I do not have to worry about the hair. Other worries, maybe...probably, but no more bad hair days! And, I still got the biggest smile out of Baby Bo this morning, so he still knows who I am...hair or no hair!

Friday Night Football Update...the Bulldogs won easily and we were sent home at half-time due to the point spread. The boys, as an entire team, are hitting harder than I ever remember. We have always had stand-outs in the past, but this is a genuine team effort and everyone seems to take their part! I feel for the opponents on the receiving end, but I enjoy every tackle! Just "Put Me In Coach...I'm Ready to Play!" I really think I'd love to do it...just once!

  1. Good Morning Mary and family,
Best wishes from Kansas, each time I read your postings, wish we could be there to help in this fight. You are very strong and have great genes to help on the way. I pray for daily and think of you often. You have a wonderful attitude and lots of support. Keep up the big fight and hope to see you soon. 2. WOW, I am so full of emotions as I read that you did shave at 2:00 a.m. I will never forget when my hair started coming out. I was going to be so tough and as you well remember it was one of my most horrible days, sometimes there is just not enough chocolate!!! I am not going to tell you it will be ok, even though it is, I am just going to tell you to hang in there and when people stare just simple say, "THE BEAST DID THIS BUT I AM GOING TO GET THE KO IN THE END!" You are so strong, it don't matter that you will be wearing a hat, with your sparkly eyes you are the most BEAUTIFUL girl I know. Your kids will get used to you with no hair and I'm sure you will get MANY head rubs!!!
Keep your chin up! Fr. Emil Kapaun PLEASE heal Mary Completely and KO the BEAST!!!! I Love you to the Moon and Back! XOXOXOXOXO Your Favorite Sis

  4. I think getting rid of the hair is so much easier than constantly feeling pieces falling and seeing it everywhere. Dad and I had a great time when I finally got to cut his... my first time with clippers :)

Glad the boys are playing so well and keeping things fun. Sending lots of prayers from Cali!

    Love, Doc

  7. So glad to see you and your kids at Jefferson today. Good to know you shaved your head early on. Saves on finding hairs in the shower and on your pillow. On the positive side it does save a lot of time not having to style your hair. But it will become one of many milestones afterwards when it begins growing back in. Just remember that so many people have your back with prayers. We're with you every step of the way! Jane W

  8. Mary,
You looked so beautiful when we saw you yesterday. My daughter, Jessica, even commented to me how pretty you are. I loved the baseball cap you were wearing. You have such style and such beauty that you just light up a room! I know God is with you. It could been seen yesterday in your beauty and your smile. Keep your head up. We are here, praying for you. I am so excited for the t-shirts. We will wear them proudly. You are inspiring us all- to fight like a girl!

  10. Mary,
We are sending you a "long distance" hug from Tewksbury MA. We are spending the long weekend here at Andys. Their three girls just donated their hair for cancer. This is Anabelles second donation. I feel sure you look cuter bald than Dan!!! Sorry, Dan. I am partial! Mary you are just so amazing. We pray many times a day for you and everyone here sends their love and prayers. We will contact Theresa for shirts. Love you girl and just think you are so amazing!! Oh yea, Alice is right XXXXOOOOXXXX Jo&Charlie

  11. Mary, being a Stanberry football player, i think i speak for the whole team when saying it is simply inspiring to look into the stands every friday night and see you supporting the team. It is special to see that through your battle with cancer you are always there to support us. it makes us play that much harder every week. It is all we can do to wear the pink stickers on the back of our helmets showing we support you and wish you the best of luck with your battle. Your a bulldog fan, so we know you are as strong as they get and will win the battle with breast cancer! We're all thinking of you!
